The foundation of everyday English - Learn how to talk about routines, facts, and permanent situations
Subject | Affirmative (+) | Negative (-) | Questions (?) |
---|---|---|---|
I | I work | I don't work | Do I work? |
You | You work | You don't work | Do you work? |
He/She/It | He works | He doesn't work | Does he work? |
We | We work | We don't work | Do we work? |
They | They work | They don't work | Do they work? |
Add -s/-es to verbs with he/she/it:
Example: She always checks her email in the morning.
A: "What do you do?"
B: "I teach biology. My classes start at 8 AM. We don't have lessons on weekends."
"Bees make honey. They don't sleep at night. The queen bee lives for several years, while worker bees live for only a few months."
Mistake: "He like pizza" (missing -s)
Correct: "He likes pizza."
Mistake: "Does she lives here?" (extra -s in questions)
Correct: "Does she live here?"
Use doesn't + base verb for he/she/it negatives:
"She doesn't eat meat." (NOT "She doesn't eats")
1. He _____ (play) tennis every Saturday.
plays
2. _____ they _____ (speak) Italian?
Do, speak
3. The museum _____ (not open) on Sundays.
doesn't open
4. Cats _____ (love) milk.
love
Podstawowy czas teraźniejszy - ucz się opisywać codzienne czynności, fakty i stałe sytuacje
Podmiot | Twierdzenie (+) | Przeczenie (-) | Pytanie (?) |
---|---|---|---|
I | I work | I don't work | Do I work? |
You | You work | You don't work | Do you work? |
He/She/It | He works | He doesn't work | Does he work? |
We | We work | We don't work | Do we work? |
They | They work | They don't work | Do they work? |
Dla he/she/it dodajemy -s/-es do czasownika:
W pytaniach i przeczeniach używamy do/does + podstawowa forma czasownika
Przykład: She always checks her email in the morning.
(Ona zawsze sprawdza email rano)
A: "What do you do?"
(Czym się zajmujesz?)
B: "I teach biology. My classes start at 8 AM. We don't have lessons on weekends."
(Uczę biologii. Moje zajęcia zaczynają się o 8:00. Nie mamy lekcji w weekendy)
"Bees make honey. They don't sleep at night. The queen bee lives for several years, while worker bees live for only a few months."
(Pszczoły robią miód. Nie śpią w nocy. Królowa pszczół żyje kilka lat, podczas gdy pszczoły robotnice żyją tylko kilka miesięcy)
Błąd: "He like pizza" (brak -s)
Poprawnie: "He likes pizza." (On lubi pizzę)
Błąd: "Does she lives here?" (dodatkowe -s w pytaniu)
Poprawnie: "Does she live here?" (Czy ona tu mieszka?)
Używaj doesn't + podstawowa forma czasownika dla przeczeń z he/she/it:
"She doesn't eat meat." (NIE "She doesn't eats")
(Ona nie je mięsa)
1. He _____ (play) tennis every Saturday.
(On gra w tenisa w każdą sobotę)
plays
2. _____ they _____ (speak) Italian?
(Czy oni mówią po włosku?)
Do, speak
3. The museum _____ (not open) on Sundays.
(Muzeum nie jest otwarte w niedziele)
doesn't open
4. Cats _____ (love) milk.
(Koty kochają mleko)
love
Zapamiętaj: Dla trzeciej osoby liczby pojedynczej (he, she, it) zawsze dodaj końcówkę -s/-es!
